UCITS is a regulatory framework of the European Commission that creates a harmonized regime throughout Europe for the management and sale of mutual funds and they can be traced back to EU Directive of 20 December, 1985, the objective of which was to create a single European market for retail investment funds, while at the same time ensuring a high level of investor protection. UCITS funds can be registered in Europe and sold to investors worldwide using unified regulatory and investor protection requirements.
Cyprus has became one of the most cost-effective and advantageous jurisdictions for the establishment of investment funds, offering great opportunities for fund managers to structure and grow their business in Europe and beyond, making the jurisdiction one of the stronger hubs for Funds in the region.
