This course will provide an insight to the legal characteristics and main operating conditions for the Alternative Investment Funds in Cyprus. The aim being to give a holistic understanding to participants of the main legal elements, different legal forms and structures and main operating conditions for AIFs. In the latest sections of the seminar, a description will be given of the main roles and responsibilities under the AIF and AIFM Law.
After the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to grasp an understanding of the main legal characteristics and operating requirements of AIFs under the AIF Law, as well as the various roles and responsibilities such as the AIFM and the Depositary.

The programme is designed to deliver knowledge and enhance participants’ skills via short lectures and practical examples. Participants will also benefit from feedback and take away the knowledge gained to be transferred to their workplace.
Questions by participants will be answered throughout. Real time examples and document samples will also be provided, where available. Participants will be interactively involved through an exchange of views and personal professional experiences.

Mr. Athos Myrianthous is a senior Legal Advocate with expertise in Finance and Commercial Law. He holds an Honours degree in Law (LLB) from Queen Mary University London, a Masters Degree in International Commercial Law (LLM) from the University of Westminster and a Masters Degree in Finance (MSC .SH) from Cass Business School, City University. He is a member of the Cyprus Bar, the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and a holder of CYSEC’s Advanced Certificate in Financial Services Legal Framework. He held various positions in the Legal and Finance Sector and provided expert advice and technical assistance in Finance Law, Funds Law and International Commercial Law both on a local and International level. He served as Head of Compliance in Fortified Capital Limited, an Alternative Fund Management Company (AIFM) regulated by CYSEC. Currently he is the Manager in BDO Fund Services, Cyprus specializing in Fund Set Up, Administration and Compliance.
