Following the entry of Cyprus into the European Union, there was a need to harmonize and modernize the legislation regarding intellectual property rights. Intellectual property rights have only recently begun development in Cyprus, and although there was a strong need to secure copyrights in the past, there has been a lack of knowledge regarding the risks involved in this area. Nevertheless, with the current network development in Europe and generally worldwide, and in the context of globalization, such rights must be secured and protected.
