Start in Cyprus. Progress to the UK. Build your future in accounting and finance.

EIMF invites students, parents, school counsellors, private school representatives and study-abroad agents to an Open Day dedicated to the Diploma in Accounting & Financial Management. This event is designed for young people who are considering their next step after school and want a practical, affordable and internationally connected route into accounting, finance, business and further study.

The Diploma in Accounting & Financial Management is a 2-year academic diploma delivered in person at EIMF in Nicosia and taught in English. The programme is designed to help students build practical knowledge in accounting, financial management, taxation, budgeting, financial reporting and business decision-making. It provides a strong foundation for entry-level roles in accounting, finance and related professional services, while also creating a pathway to further study.

A key feature of the programme is the optional progression route to the UK. Through EIMF’s progression arrangement with Southampton Solent University, eligible graduates of the Diploma may have the opportunity to enter the final year of a relevant bachelor’s degree in the UK. This means that students may be able to complete a UK bachelor’s degree with just one additional year of study, subject to the university’s entry requirements and admissions decision.

Why attend this Open Day?

Choosing what to study after school is an important decision for both students and families. This Open Day will help you understand how the EIMF Diploma can support a student’s future academic and professional plans.

During the event, students and parents will learn about:

•  The structure of the Diploma in Accounting & Financial Management

•  What students will study during the 2-year programme

Career opportunities in accounting, finance, audit support, taxation, payroll and financial services

•  How the optional progression route to Southampton Solent University works

•  What it means to enter the final year of a relevant UK bachelor’s degree

•  The potential financial benefit of studying locally first and progressing to the UK later

•  The 20% tuition fee discount that may be available to eligible students for the final year at Solent

•  Admissions, entry requirements and next steps

•  Practical issues such as student life, accommodation, cost planning and preparation for study in the UK

A practical route into accounting and finance

The Diploma in Accounting & Financial Management is ideal for students who want to develop real-world knowledge and skills in an area that is always relevant to business.

Accounting and finance are at the centre of every organisation. Businesses, banks, audit firms, accounting offices, investment firms, insurance companies, public sector bodies and international organisations all need people who understand financial information and can support sound business decisions.

Through the programme, students are introduced to key areas such as:

•  Accounting principles

•  Financial management

•  Taxation

•  Budgeting

•  Financial reporting

•  Business decision-making

•  Financial planning and analysis

The programme is suitable for students who want to begin building a career in accounting, finance or business, as well as those who want to continue to a bachelor’s degree after completing the diploma.

Progress to a UK Bachelor’s Degree

Through EIMF’s progression arrangement with Southampton Solent University, eligible graduates of the Diploma in Accounting & Financial Management may have the opportunity to continue their studies in the UK by entering the final year of a relevant bachelor’s degree.

This route allows students to:

•  Complete the first stage of their studies locally in Cyprus

•  Build confidence and academic readiness before going abroad

•  Reduce the overall cost compared with studying for a full 3-year degree in the UK

•  Progress to the UK for one additional year, subject to eligibility

•  Graduate with a UK bachelor’s degree, subject to successful completion of the final year

•  Strengthen future employment and postgraduate study opportunities

For many families, this creates a balanced and cost-effective pathway: students benefit from local support at the beginning of their studies and still have the opportunity to experience UK university life and gain an internationally recognised qualification.

The Southampton Solent University final-year experience

For students who progress to Southampton Solent University, the final year is not only about completing a degree. It is also an opportunity to experience university life in the UK, develop independence and gain exposure to an international academic environment.

The final year at Solent can help students:

•  Complete a relevant UK bachelor’s degree in one additional year

•  Study in an international university setting

•  Develop higher-level academic, analytical and professional skills

•  Build confidence before entering employment or postgraduate study

•  Experience life in Southampton as a university student

•  Access university facilities, student support and career guidance

•  Strengthen their CV with a UK university qualification

Solent’s accountancy and finance provision places emphasis on practical and professional skills, including specialist knowledge, ethical awareness, problem-solving and preparation for contemporary accounting and finance issues. Its Accountancy and Financial Management top-up route is also linked to ACCA accreditation, with exemptions potentially available depending on the route and modules completed.

Why this route matters for parents

For parents, the decision to send a child abroad for university can raise important questions about cost, maturity, safety, academic readiness and future employability.

This pathway offers a more gradual route. Students can begin their studies in Cyprus, remain close to home during the first stage of their academic development, and then progress to the UK when they are more academically prepared and personally confident.

Parents attending the Open Day will be able to ask questions about:

•  Whether the programme is suitable for their child

•  How the progression route works

•  The cost advantage of studying locally first

•  What students need to achieve to be eligible for progression

•  What support is available before and during the move to the UK

•  Accommodation and student life in Southampton

•  Career and postgraduate study opportunities after graduation

This makes the Open Day especially useful for families who are considering UK higher education but want a more affordable and structured route.

A more cost-effective way to access UK higher education

Completing a full 3-year undergraduate degree abroad can be expensive. Tuition fees, accommodation, living costs, travel and other expenses can place significant pressure on families.

The EIMF route offers an alternative. Students may complete the first two years of their academic journey in Cyprus and then, if eligible, progress to Southampton Solent University for the final year of a relevant bachelor’s degree.

Eligible students may also benefit from a 20% tuition fee discount on the final year at Solent, making this route even more accessible.

What students should expect from studying in the UK

Students who progress to Solent should be prepared for both academic and personal development. Studying in the UK can help students become more independent, improve their communication skills, meet people from different backgrounds and experience a new educational environment.

Important areas that students and parents may wish to discuss during the Open Day include:

•  Academic expectations in the final year

•  English language requirements

•  Visa considerations, where applicable

•  Accommodation options

•  Budgeting and living costs

•  Student support services

•  Career support and employability

•  Postgraduate study options after completing the bachelor’s degree

Solent provides information for international students on admissions and notes that English language requirements for university entry and visa purposes may differ, so students should always check the applicable requirements at the time of application.

Who should attend?

This Open Day is ideal for:

•  High school graduates considering what to study next

•  Students interested in accounting, finance, business or financial services

•  Parents exploring affordable study options for their children

•  Private school students and school administrators

•  School counsellors advising students on academic pathways

•  Study-abroad agents supporting students interested in UK higher education

•  Students who want to begin their studies in Cyprus and keep open the option of progressing to the UK

Meet EIMF and Southampton Solent University

EIMF representatives will explain the diploma structure, admissions process, study experience in Cyprus and student support available locally.

Southampton Solent University representatives will provide information about the UK progression opportunity, the final-year experience, what students can expect in Southampton, and the practical issues that students and families should consider when planning for further study in the UK.

Important note on progression
