Purpose
The Master in European Economic Governance and Policy aims to equip students with a deep and practical understanding of how the European Union coordinates, manages, and regulates its economic affairs in an increasingly complex environment. As European economic governance has evolved, so too have the challenges facing policymakers, raising critical questions about how decisions are made, who holds authority, and how integration dynamics shape outcomes. The programme guides students in exploring which economic policies are decided at the EU level, the role and competences of key institutions, the influence of member states, and the explanatory power of integration theories.
Grounded in strong theoretical foundations, methodological rigour, and applied learning, the programme’s purpose is to prepare graduates to comprehend and contribute to EU economic governance debates and processes. Students develop a critical understanding of governance frameworks, policy evolution, and financial crises; acquire essential research skills through a dedicated methods module and a substantive thesis; and benefit from applied insights through interactive teaching, peer collaboration, and contributions from expert academics, public officials, and practitioners.
Designed through close collaboration between scholars and professionals, the programme offers an academically robust yet practice-oriented pathway that supports research development and addresses an increasingly important field.
