What is the AAT

AAT stands for the Association of Accounting Technicians, and offers the perfect start to a successful accounting and finance career.

It is the leading qualification and membership body for vocational accountants.

AAT work across the globe with around 130,000 members in more than 90 countries. AAT members are represented at every level of the finance and accounting world, including students, people already working in accountancy and self-employed business owners.

What is an Accounting Technician?

Accounting Technicians aren’t limited to just one role in one industry – becoming AAT qualified means you could work in the accounts department of any business – whatever shape, size or sector. You could even work for yourself in your own business! AAT combines practical skills with accountancy knowledge. Roles are varied, but here are some of the things you could be doing:

Who can study AAT?

AAT is perfect if you’re looking to study a professional qualification in accounting and finance.

Unlike some other qualifications, there are no entry requirements with AAT, and you don’t need any relevant work experience. Even though there are no entry requirements, it will help if you’re good with numbers and committed to putting in the study hours.

EIMF Classroom preparation courses

Classroom courses prepare participants for the computer based exams for each unit, covering the full syllabus with lots of exam style lecture examples and guided question practice. We provide a comprehensive study pack and set a final mock assessment for you to complete ahead of your real exams. We offer evening courses from our Nicosia centre. Our brand new revision courses are designed to prepare participants for the synoptic assessments which participants can attempt only once they have passed the computer based exams for that level.

EIMF is the only approved training partner and computer assessment centre in Cyprus

AAT does not deliver training directly. AAT qualifications are delivered by AAT Approved training providers around the world. AAT Approved training providers must meet the AAT high standards before they are approved to offer AAT qualifications. AAT conducts regular checks to ensure that we meet their regulatory requirements and rigorous standards.

The AAT Levels


Level 2 Foundation Certificate in  Accounting

A range of basic accounting practices and techniques, from costing and double-entry bookkeeping to using accounting software

This qualification is perfect for those who are new to finance or if you’re simply looking to brush up on your foundation knowledge and skills.

Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting

This qualification introduces more complex accounting tasks, like maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns.

It’s perfect if you’ve completed the foundation qualification, or you’re already at a more advanced level and you’re looking to develop your accounting skills.

Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting

The final level covers higher level accounting tasks, including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance. You’ll also have the opportunity to specialise in areas from tax to auditing and credit control.

This qualification is perfect if you’ve progressed through the foundation and advanced qualifications, or you’re at a higher stage in your career and you want a qualification to give you the confidence and proof that you have the skills to do the job.

Once you’ve achieved this qualification, and with proof of relevant work experience, perhaps gathered while you were training, you’ll be able to apply to become a full member of AAT and use the letters MAAT after your name.
