The Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS), in collaboration with the Centre for Good Governance of the European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF), and under the auspices of the Cyprus Compliance Association (CCA), successfully concluded a four-part seminar series titled “Mastering GRC with ISO: A standards-based approach”, held between December 2025 and May 2026.

The completion of the series marks not only the end of a structured programme of knowledge-sharing, but also a milestone in the strong cooperation between the three organizations. Building upon the existing collaboration frameworks between the Cyprus Compliance Association (CCA) and the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS), and between CYS and the European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF), this joint initiative demonstrates a shared commitment to transforming institutional cooperation into meaningful action and tangible impact for the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) community in Cyprus.

The seminar series was designed to strengthen understanding and practical application of internationally recognized ISO standards in the fields of governance, compliance, ethics, and risk management. Across four thematic sessions, participants explored how structured, standards-based approaches can enhance integrity, accountability, and organizational performance. As organisations continue to face increasingly complex regulatory, governance and operational challenges, internationally recognised ISO standards provide practical frameworks for strengthening resilience, improving decision-making and embedding a culture of integrity and continual improvement.

The programme included the following sessions:

•  Achieving Effective Compliance and Integrity: The ISO Approach.

•  Governance in Action: Applying ISO standards to drive effective and accountable organizations.

•  Ethics in action: Implementing ISO standards for Transparent and Accountable Organizations.

•  Risk-informed decision making: Applying ISO’s standard for effective governance.

Throughout the series, key ISO standards were presented and discussed by esteemed experts including Marios Skandalis, Eleni Neocleous, Theodoros Stavrou, Stephen Gee, Petros Florides, Adonis Pegasiou, Andri Kyriacou, Ioanna Fiakkou, Antonis Karpasitis, Louis Protopapas, and Marios Tannousis. The standards presented during the series included ISO 37301 and ISO 37302 on compliance management, ISO 37000 and ISO 37005 on governance of organizations, ISO 37001 and ISO 37002 on anti-bribery and whistleblowing systems, and ISO 31000 on risk management.

The seminars engaged 136 participants from across Cyprus, bringing together professionals from public authorities, private sector organizations, NGOs, and academia. Participants also benefited from access to 121 ISO standards through CYS, reflecting the programme’s strong commitment to knowledge sharing and standards-based capacity building.

Beyond knowledge dissemination, the initiative fostered meaningful dialogue between local and international experts and reinforced the importance of collaboration in strengthening the GRC ecosystem in Cyprus.

The series of seminars was held with the support of Invest Cyprus, Bank of Cyprus, Nexia Poyiadjis, and with Alpha Cyprus as media partner. CYS, EIMF, and CCA expressed their appreciation for the strong cooperation developed throughout the series and reaffirmed their shared intention to continue working together on future initiatives. This collaboration demonstrates that while individual institutions can achieve important outcomes independently, greater impact is achieved through coordinated efforts and shared vision.

The success of this first joint initiative represents a foundation for future activities aimed at further supporting the GRC community and advancing good governance practices in Cyprus.

Following the success of the series, CYS, EIMF and CCA also announced that a final seminar focusing on ISO standards relating to Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be organised, reflecting the growing importance of AI governance and its relevance to the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) landscape.

Ο CYS, το EIMF και ο CCA ολοκληρώνουν με επιτυχία σειρά σεμιναρίων για πλαίσια GRC βασισμένα σε ISO πρότυπα

Ο Κυπριακός Οργανισμός Τυποποίησης (CYS), σε συνεργασία με το Centre for Good Governance του European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF), και υπό την αιγίδα του Cyprus Compliance Association (CCA), ολοκλήρωσε με επιτυχία μια τετραμερή σειρά σεμιναρίων με τίτλο «Mastering GRC with ISO: A standards–based approach», η οποία πραγματοποιήθηκε από τον Δεκέμβριο 2025 έως τον Μάιο 2026.

Η ολοκλήρωση της σειράς δεν σηματοδοτεί μόνο το τέλος ενός δομημένου προγράμματος ανταλλαγής γνώσης, αλλά και ένα σημαντικό ορόσημο στη διαρκή συνεργασία των τριών οργανισμών. Βασιζόμενη στα υφιστάμενα πλαίσια συνεργασίας μεταξύ του Cyprus Compliance Association (CCA) και του Κυπριακού Οργανισμού Τυποποίησης (CYS), καθώς και μεταξύ του CYS και του European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF), η κοινή αυτή πρωτοβουλία αναδεικνύει την κοινή δέσμευση των οργανισμών να μετατρέπουν τη θεσμική συνεργασία σε ουσιαστικές δράσεις με απτό αντίκτυπο για την κοινότητα Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) στην Κύπρο.

Η σειρά σεμιναρίων σχεδιάστηκε με στόχο την ενίσχυση της κατανόησης και πρακτικής εφαρμογής διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένων προτύπων ISO στους τομείς της διακυβέρνησης, της συμμόρφωσης, της ηθικής και της διαχείρισης κινδύνων. Μέσα από τέσσερις θεματικές ενότητες, οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να διερευνήσουν πώς τα δομημένα, βασισμένα σε πρότυπα πλαίσια μπορούν να ενισχύσουν την ακεραιότητα, τη λογοδοσία και την οργανωτική απόδοση.

Οι θεματικές ενότητες περιελάμβαναν:

Κατά τη διάρκεια της σειράς παρουσιάστηκαν και συζητήθηκαν βασικά πρότυπα ISO, από τους Μάριο Σκανδάλη, Ελένη Νεοκλέους, Θεόδωρο Σταύρου, Stephen Gee, Πέτρο Φλωρίδη, Άδωνη Πηγασίου, Άντρη Κυριάκου, Ιωάννα Φιάκκου, Αντώνη Καρπασίτη, Λούη Πρωτοπαπά, Μάριο Ταννούση.

Τα πρότυπα που παρουσιάστηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια της σειράς συμπεριλάμβαναν τα ISO 37301 και ISO 37302 για συστήματα συμμόρφωσης, τα ISO 37000 και ISO 37005 για τη διακυβέρνηση οργανισμών, τα ISO 37001 και ISO 37002 για συστήματα κατά της διαφθοράς και καταγγελιών, καθώς και το ISO 31000 για τη διαχείριση κινδύνων.

Συνολικά συμμετείχαν 136 επαγγελματίες από τον δημόσιο και ιδιωτικό τομέα, ΜΚΟ και την ακαδημαϊκή κοινότητα. Παράλληλα, οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν επίσης πρόσβαση σε 121 πρότυπα ISO μέσω του CYS, γεγονός που αντανακλά την ισχυρή δέσμευση του προγράμματος στην ανταλλαγή γνώσης και στην ενίσχυση των δεξιοτήτων και ικανοτήτων μέσω της αξιοποίησης προτύπων.

Πέρα από τη διάχυση γνώσης, η πρωτοβουλία ενίσχυσε τον ουσιαστικό διάλογο μεταξύ τοπικών και διεθνών εμπειρογνωμόνων και ανέδειξε τη σημασία της συνεργασίας για την ενδυνάμωση του οικοσυστήματος Διακυβέρνησης, Διαχείρισης Κινδύνων και Συμμόρφωσης (GRC) στην Κύπρο.

Η σειρά των σεμιναρίων πραγματοποιήθηκε με τη στήριξη των Invest Cyprus, Bank of Cyprus, Nexia Poyiadjis, και με Χορηγό Επικοινωνίας την Alpha Cyprus. Οι διοργανωτές εκφράζουν τις ειλικρινείς τους ευχαριστίες προς το Invest Cyprus, την Τράπεζα Κύπρου και τη Nexia Poyiadjis για την πολύτιμη στήριξή τους στην υλοποίηση της σειράς των σεμιναρίων. Ιδιαίτερες ευχαριστίες απευθύνονται επίσης στην Alpha Cyprus για τη συμβολή της ως Χορηγού Επικοινωνίας και για την υποστήριξή της στην προβολή της πρωτοβουλίας.

Ο CYS, το EIMF και το CCA εξέφρασαν την εκτίμησή τους για την ισχυρή συνεργασία που αναπτύχθηκε καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της σειράς δράσεων και επιβεβαίωσαν την κοινή τους πρόθεση να συνεχίσουν να συνεργάζονται σε μελλοντικές πρωτοβουλίες. Η συνεργασία αυτή καταδεικνύει ότι, παρόλο που κάθε οργανισμός μπορεί να επιτύχει σημαντικά αποτελέσματα ανεξάρτητα, ο μεγαλύτερος αντίκτυπος επιτυγχάνεται μέσα από συντονισμένες προσπάθειες και κοινό όραμα.

Η επιτυχία αυτής της πρώτης κοινής πρωτοβουλίας θέτει τις βάσεις για μελλοντικές δράσεις που θα συμβάλουν περαιτέρω στην ενδυνάμωση της κοινότητας GRC και στην προώθηση της χρηστής διακυβέρνησης στην Κύπρο.

Μετά την επιτυχή ολοκλήρωση της σειράς, ο CYS, το EIMF και ο CCA ανακοίνωσαν ότι θα πραγματοποιηθεί ένα ακόμη, τελευταίο σεμινάριο αφιερωμένο στα πρότυπα ISO που αφορούν την Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη (AI), αναγνωρίζοντας τη διαρκώς αυξανόμενη σημασία της διακυβέρνησης της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης για τους οργανισμούς και την κοινότητα Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).
