George Tsakonas is an experienced Senior Executive in the field of Life Insurance. He started his career in ALICO Greece in 1991 occupying various positions in the Company, until he was transferred to the Central and Eastern European Region in 2002, assuming responsibility of the Bulgarian Operation in January 2003. Since then and for the next 15 years he was the General Manager of ALICO and later Metlife after acquiring ALICO in 2010, in 5 countries, namely Bulgaria, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia and Cyprus. Throughout his long multi-culture career George was exposed to the challenges of both developed and developing markets, giving him a deep understanding of the business and the opportunity to pursue the Company’s strategic objectives within a variety of different competition and regulatory environments, changing market conditions and diverse people’s mentalities. His main responsibilities included: Set Company’s strategy, achieve Top and Bottom Line plans, maximize Operating efficiency and Customer satisfaction, develop management teams’ performance and capabilities, and attract and retain talent. He focused on Face-to-Face and Bancassurance distribution channels growth and created a complete ‘’Sales Unit Working System’’ for Agency distribution, a model framework of daily work for all sales Managers, incorporating all principles, rules and daily actions leading to success, if followed consistently and without discounts. George holds a BSc in Economics from University of Athens and MSc in Money, Banking and Finance from Birmingham University in United Kingdom.
