Provide a deep dive into the key critical legislative packages currently being negotiated in Brussels by the EC, EU Parliament and Council, covering banks, fund management and revised oversight and supervisory measures. An overview of the complex nature of the EU legislative process and the key EU Institutions involved in the development of regulations will be also covered. The programme will touch on certain international ‘game-changing’ and benchmark-forming piece of EU legislation, notably the EU Digital Strategy, the EU Sustainability Disclosure initiative and the scaled-up EU anti-money laundering (AML) strategy.
Training Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will:
- Understand the EU Institutional decision-making process from the EC proposal stage on the EU legislative packages to ratification by the EU Parliament and Council
- Identify the various key areas of the EU financial services regulatory agenda that will have a direct impact on the firm’s products, services, and the processes associated with payments, settlements, trading and clearing activities
- Develop an awareness of the role and be able to distinguish their mandate and powers of the EU supervisory authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA), the ECB, the EC, ESRB).
- Build-up a skills-set to enable the firm to navigate the proliferation of EU regulation, the complexity linked to the UK FS sector no longer being part of the EU, relations between the EU and the USA.
