Risk and uncertainty are part of everyday business life. In today’s increasingly complex business environment the management of opportunity and risk plays a vital role in the success of any organisation or in the timely and successful completion of any project.
Recent examples of risk management failures in otherwise financially strong and reputable organisations show how risk can destroy an organisation if not adequately managed. Organisations with a sound risk management framework are in a better position to take advantage of the upside and manage the downside of risk.
This course introduces participants to the principles, framework and process of the ISO 31000 risk management standard. The course guides participants on how to develop and implement a risk management programme, define risk appetite and risk tolerance and link opportunity and risk management with the strategic and business objectives of the organisation. The course provides the practical tools for establishing a risk management framework, and applying risk communication and consultation, monitoring and review, and recording and reporting processes based on the ISO 31000 Risk Management Standard. Participants shall acquire the skills to select and apply key risk indicators and the most appropriate techniques for risk treatment depending on the risk and the its acceptance criteria.
By the end of the programme, participants will:

The Certificate takes a practical hands-on approach in teaching. The basic methodology for doing risk analysis will be enhanced by software which will be made available to the participants and facilitate its application on actual real-life cases. Case-studies will be provided and be supporting the teaching. Participants will be expected to work on such case-study in class and also as home assignment during the period between the two sessions of the course.
At the completion of the knowledge areas, participants will be assessed via the form of Multiple-Choice Questions which will consist of questions related to the material taught. The aim of the assessment is to examine participants’ overall attention and knowledge of material taught as well as their competencies towards the implementation of practical cases.
The syllabus of the Certificate may be approved for up to 35 CPD units in Risk. Eligibility criteria and CPD Units are verified directly by your association, regulator or other bodies which you hold membership.
