The Cyprus Funds Summit – Cyprus becoming an Investment Funds Hub

TheFunds EIMF participated in the CIFA Organised Cyprus Funds Summit 2015, where the outlook for the sector was presented by the regulators and prominent experts.

CIFA President Angelos Gregoriades, addressing the Cyprus Funds Summit on Friday, said that applications to set up investment funds in Cyprus are increasing, due to the favourable law principles and tax regime, the proximity to the markets in the Middle East and Africa, and the upcoming tax incentives to attract investment fund managers in Cyprus.

Experts from classical fund jurisdictions like Luxembourg, Belgium, Ireland and the UK, as well as from emerging fund markets like the UAE, Israel, and Cyprus provided their insights on issues pertaining to  a variety of subjects like the Alternative Investment Funds Industry, Strategic Positioning, Modernising the regulatory framework, and the future of investment funds in the region, among others.

What most speakers, including the regulators and CIFA mentioned, is that a strong Fund Market needs dedicated professionals and experts to make Cyprus an attractive alternative to the large number of fund jurisdictions in the region.

The EIMF, in its constant effort to advance and train the Cyprus workforce with relevant qualifications, offers one of the best courses offered for the Funds Sector in Europe. As an Accredited Training Partner of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment (CISI) UK, the EIMF offers the CISI International Certificate in Wealth and Investment Management. Furthermore, London-based Funds expert Mr David Loader is presenting the EIMF course titled Investment Fund Custody & Administration.
